Sport Manitoba is proud to host our first Safe Sport Summit! Titled Building a Safer and Stronger Sport Culture, the 2024 Sport Manitoba Summit will bring together sport administrators, coaches, parents, officials, athletes, and volunteers from across all sports in Manitoba. The event will include professional development opportunities, presentations, engagement activities, and resources that will assist all stakeholders in establishing a safe and sustainable sport culture.
The Summit is an opportunity for all participants to learn from others, discuss current topics, and ensure that leaders in the province’s sport system have the knowledge and the tools to provide quality sport experiences to all Manitobans.
Registration is completely free and food/beverages will be provided both days.
Generation Safe founder, Allison Forsyth, is the leader in ground-breaking education and awareness in the Canadian safe sport landscape. Allison’s ‘real-talk’ educational approach has resonated with over 50 sport organizations and thousands of people nationwide.
Recently recognized in the ‘Top 25 Women of Influence in Canada in 2023’, Allison’s guiding principles have been instrumental in helping organizations turn their safe sport policies into practice. Allison previously co-founded ITP Sport, Canada’s only full-service safe sport programming and consulting agency.
The 2-time Olympian and 8-time National Champion (alpine skiing) offers a unique and critical perspective as a survivor of sexual abuse in the sport system. Recently having taken a role with Canada Soccer as their Safe Sport Officer, Allison will serve to ensure a trauma-informed systemic implementation of safe sport practices and procedures from the national to grassroots level.
The New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association is pleased to be hosting the 2024 Excellence Awards Banquet in Fredericton! Invited students and guests are invited to join us at the University of New Brunswick at the Wu Centre on April 25th 2024. Athletes and teams will be contacted shortly with information on how to claim their tickets.

Emery Johnson Memorial Award
This award goes to the Most Sportsmanlike Coach of the Year and recognizes their outstanding lifetime achievements towards students and the NBIAA school sports programs. This award is named after Emery Johnson, the former athletic director of Dalhousie Regional High School and the NBIAA Executive Committee, who passed away in November 2003.

Team Sportsmanship of the Year Awards
In 2014, the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association introduced an annual School Sportsmnship of the Year Awards.
