2026 Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Provincial Track & Field Individual Para Champions

Physical and Health Education (PHE) Canada is launching a new Connect for School Sport (C4SS) project to ensure that all children and youth, from coast to coast to coast, have more equitable, safer, and inclusive opportunities to participate, compete, develop, and thrive in school sport.

To better understand the current landscape, opportunities, successes, and challenges within school sport in Canada and identify meaningful ways for school sport systems to be experienced equally and equitably by all, the C4SS project is launching a Connect for School Sport Climate Survey.

Why Your Input Matters
Your feedback will help inform the C4SS project’s environmental scan and the development of a comprehensive school sport system framework aiming to:
● Increase student participation and positive school sport experiences, particularly those in equity-deserving populations, respectfully: girls and women; persons with a disability; Indigenous, Black, and racialized people; 2SLGBTQIA+ populations & gender-diverse people; Newcomers; remote/isolated communities; and lower socio- economic backgrounds;
● Build capacity and relevant support for school sport leaders and coaches; and,
● Improve the long-term health of school sport systems from coast to coast to coast.

Who Can Participate?
We are looking for input from those who are working in K-12 schools or connected school sport systems (intramural or interscholastic), which includes:
● School Staff Members: Teacher, Principal, Vice-Principal, Athletic Director, Educational Assistant, or Support Staff working inside a school building or coaching a school sport.
● School Community Coaches: An outside volunteer or contract coach who actively coaches a school sport.
● Pre-Service Teachers: Teacher candidates coaching (head coach or assistant coach) a school sport.
● Recent School Coach (Past 3 Years): Anyone in the roles above who has actively coached a school sport at any point since 2023.

Survey Details
● Time Commitment: Approximately 20 minutes.
● Deadline to Complete: Monday, June 22nd, 2026 at 11:59 pm PST
● Confidentiality & Privacy: All responses are completely confidential. The information gathered will be stored internally in our database and used to inform the environmental scan and national school sport framework. Your individual responses will be grouped with others, and we will never use this data to identify you.

This year, the OFSAA Alumni Association selection committee chose four student-athletes from Ontario High Schools as the recipients of the Alumni Scholarship. The four winners were selected from over 30 applications that were received from the following eligible associations: CWOSSA, GBSSA, NEOAA, NOSSA, SWOSSAA, and YRAA.

Our 2025-26 winners are Eve Beaudry from ÉSC Algonquin (NOSSA), Charley Pollock from Englehart HS (NEOAA), Kevin Pezzack from Bluevale CI (CWOSSA) and Nicholas Ludgate from St. Peter’s CSS (GBSSA). Each of our winners will receive a cheque for $1,000 – as well as a commemorative plaque. Please meet our worthy recipients.

Eve Beaudry is a grade 12 student at ÉSC Algonquin who plans to study Nursing at Nipissing University in the fall. During her years at Algonquin, Eve took part in the following sports: basketball, volleyball, flag football and soccer while maintaining a top 10 academic average among her peers at the school. She was also a foundational member of the Unified Athletes program responsible for Special Olympics at Algonquin. In 2025, she attended a Special Olympics Youth Summit and this year will be part of a regional soccer team that will be attending the Summer Games. Eve was also involved in community service activities outside of school, an example of which is her involvement as a swimming instructor at the local YMCA. In her personal statement Eve stated that “the athletic program at my school has taught me everything I know about sports, from teamwork and friendship to how to handle wins and losses with integrity and sportsmanship.” One of Eve’s teacher-coaches had this to say about her impact on the athletic program at Algonquin: “A true leader; Eve understands that empathy and respect are foundational to effective leadership. Leading by example, her determination and selflessness on the court elevate her teammates and foster a strong sense of unity.”

NIcholas Ludgate is a grade 12 student at St. Peter’s CSS. Nicholas was involved in four different senior sports teams at the school including hockey, cross country, track and field and badminton while at the same time maintaining an average of over 85% during his final year of high school. Nicholas’s community involvement is exemplified by his willingness to volunteer at a local senior’s home as well as with a local hockey program. Nicholas has also been part of the South Simcoe Cross Country Club since his grade 8 year. Nicholas believes that his involvement in school sport has “taught me how to deal with setbacks. I’ve learned how to stay patient with myself and trust the process, which isn’t always easy.” Nicholas’s cross country coach had this to say about his coachability and leadership: “Nicholas encourages his teammates and motivates them in a way only someone who is respected by his peers could do.” In the fall, Nicholas will be attending Nipissing University to study Health and Physical Education.

Charley Pollock is a grade 12 student at Englehart HS. Another outstanding student-athlete, Charley participated in three different sports during her high school years; basketball, track and field and badminton. She was also a member of the regional basketball club while maintaining a 92% average in her course work. In addition, Charley’s community involvement was extensive and included volunteering as a leader and fundraiser for the Girl Guides, the local food bank as well as a being swimming instructor and lifeguard during not only the school year but also the summer. In her letter to the committee, Charley emphasized that “As a senior athlete and Junior Leader in Girl Guides, I learned how to mentor younger students, promote sportsmanship, and create a supportive team environment. Whether encouraging teammates during competition or helping organize practices, I strive to lead with respect, integrity, and kindness.” In her letter of recommendation to the committee, one of Charley’s teachers had this to say about her: “it is her versatility that truly sets her apart. To be able to compete at the provincial level in multiple sports demonstrates a rare combination of raw athleticism, discipline, and the ability to be coachable across different disciplines.” In the fall, Charley will be studying Kinesiology at Queen’s University.

Kevin Pezzack is a grade 12 student at Bluevale CI. During his time at the school, Kevin participated in the following sports; swimming, basketball, volleyball, badminton and tennis. As well, Kevin was involved in the school’s Concert and Jazz bands, was a member of the Music Leadership Team and was part of the Electric Car Club, the Math Club, the Chess Club and the Fed Prov Club which was a political simulation activity hosted by Wilfrid Laurier University. In spite of his busy schedule, Kevin was able to maintain a 90% average during his final year of high school. His community involvement included working as a lifeguard, aquafit and swim instructor. He also volunteered at the Waterloo Tennis Club. Kevin said this about the role of high school sports in his overall development: “School sport has been a big part of my life during high school, and it has influenced me for the better. It has helped me make and deepen a lot of friendships; it has made me fitter and healthier; it has helped me set goals and it has been a lot of fun. ” His swim coach had this to say about Kevin: “It is clear he brings a true student-athlete mindset to everything he does. He’s the kind of person who shows up to every single practice ready to put in the work. He is incredibly dependable, but what makes him special is that he never makes it just about his own performance. He is always looking out for his teammates, bringing great energy to the pool deck, and pushing everyone around him to be better.” In September, Kevin will be studying Mathematics at the University of Waterloo.

OFSAA would like to congratulate Eve, Kevin, Nicholas and Charley and wish them well in their future endeavours.
