BCSS & UBER ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP FOR THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR!
BC School Sports is excited to announce a game-changing partnership with Uber, a global leader in rideshare, ecommerce and food delivery technology. Uber will proudly serve as the Presenting Sponsor for the BCSS Girls and Boys Basketball Provincial Championships, our premier event of the year. Further, Uber will be recognized as the official rideshare and food delivery partner for BCSS through its newest offering in the Greater Vancouver Area—teen accounts.
Teen accounts are an Uber account for your teen with trackable trips and highly rated drivers. Designed for families on the go, teen accounts can assist busy parents who can’t always be there to pick up / drop off their teens. Parents/guardians must enable the account in order for teens to use it and safety features like live trip tracking for parents and real time notifications for parents are built into the experience.
This partnership between BC School Sports and Uber represents a significant step forward in ensuring convenient rides for young passengers while broadening access for youth to engage in sports within the vibrant Greater Vancouver community.
To celebrate this partnership between Uber and BCSS, Uber is offering the following promotion:
60% off (max $15 off per trip) for your next three rides when using the promo code BCTEENFALL23, where teens accounts on Uber are available. Terms apply.
Uber will also be hosting a webinar for coaches, athletic directors and staff to introduce Uber teen accounts and provide more information on how families and teens can use it throughout the fall sports season. Please join the webinar on Thursday, October 19th at 3:15 pm PST – details to come
OFSAA is pleased to extend subsidies for students once again in the 2023-24 school year!
The following 2023-24 deadlines to submit an application are in place:
Fall Sports – October 31
Winter Sports – January 31
Spring Sports – April 28
The current application form can be found HERE and must be used to apply for funds this year. The fillable version of the form can be found HERE.
Important Information for schools:
The current application must be used. Complete fully, checking off all the items covered by the sport specific fee, and making sure the *parent section* and signature are filled in.
To determine grant eligibility, the committee will consider social and economic barriers facing the student’s family as identified by the parents. It is Important that the parents include comprehensive information on the family’s current financial situation.
The maximum amount a student may receive is $135.
The endorser should be a person aware of the student’s financial situation and needs, and of the breakdown of the athletic fees (general and sport specific). An Athletic Director or Physical Education Department Head may best fit this role.
Monies are only approved for inter-school participation fees for regular league play. This grant is not intended to cover any costs associated with exhibition matches, tournament play, or additional costs incurred from qualifying for championships.
We may not be able to provide funding for all applicants, so schools should evaluate the students applying and submit forms for those that are most in need.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
