Montréal, le 10 octobre 2024 – Lors de son Assemblée Générale Extraordinaire, le RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) annonce fièrement une étape majeure dans son évolution : l’unification de son réseau avec une reconnaissance de la mission.
Gustave Roel, chef de la direction, et Stéphane Boudreau, directeur général du RSEQ, ont parcouru les quatre coins de la province pour consulter et concerter les parties prenantes représentant les différentes instances régionales du RSEQ.
Dans le cadre de ces consultations, ils ont accompagné les conseils d’administration des instances régionales dans une réflexion objective sur le financement. Les changements seront apportés de manière collaborative, en respectant l’autonomie régionale, ainsi que les spécificités et les expertises de chaque région.
Les gains pour le réseau sont nombreux. L’unification permettra au RSEQ d’obtenir une reconnaissance officielle du ministère, qui s’engage à financer spécifiquement sa mission — une première dans l’histoire du réseau. Les instances régionales qui deviendront des bureaux régionaux devront procéder, au cours de l’année 2024-2025, à une liquidation volontaire de leur conseil d’administration. Cette démarche accentuera la synergie du réseau en offrant une voix unifiée et augmentera la capacité d’entraide entre les régions, tout en assurant une meilleure stabilité financière et organisationnelle pour l’ensemble du réseau.
« C’est bien plus qu’un chapitre que le RSEQ vient d’accomplir comme réseau, c’est à nous d’écrire notre histoire. Cette unification permettra d’assurer à des milliers d’étudiantes et étudiants un réseau plus fort que jamais et confirme incontestablement l’importance de notre mission », affirme Gustave Roel, chef de la direction du RSEQ.
Le RSEQ s’engage à travailler en synergie avec toutes les instances régionales pour assurer une transition harmonieuse. Les conditions gagnantes identifiées — confiance, communication, transparence — seront au cœur de ce projet commun.

Montreal, October 10th, 2024 – At its Extraordinary General Assembly, the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) proudly announced a major step in its evolution: the unification of its regional structure accompanied by the recognition of the organization’s mission.
RSEQ CEO Gustave Roel and Executive Director Stéphane Boudreau travelled across the province to consult and coordinate with representatives from each of the RSEQ’s regional organizations.
As part of these consultations, they accompanied each Regional Board of Directors in an objective reflection on financing. Changes will be made using a collaborative approach, while respecting regional autonomy, as well as the distinctive characteristics and expertise of each region.
The gains for the entire organization are considerable. Unification will enable the RSEQ to obtain official recognition from the ministère du sport, du loisir et du plein air, with funding specifically dedicated to its mission – a first in the network’s history. The regional organizations that will become regional offices will be required to voluntarily liquidate their Boards of Directors over the course of 2024-2025. This move will enhance synergy within the network by providing a unified voice. It will also increase the capacity for regional collaboration and support, while ensuring greater financial and organizational stability for the entire network.
“This is so much more than a chapter that the RSEQ has completed as a network; now it’s time for us to write our own history. This unification will ensure that thousands of students benefit from a network that is stronger than ever, and it unquestionably confirms the importance of our mission,” says Gustave Roel, CEO of the RSEQ.
The RSEQ is committed to working in synergy with all regional organizations to ensure a smooth transition. Trust, communication and transparency are the winning conditions that have been identified; they will remain at the heart of this joint project.

La personne qui occupera ce poste (DGA) assistera le directeur général dans le leadership stratégique du RSEQ et l’administration de tous ses services et programmes. Celle-ci (DGA), aura l’importante responsabilité de la gestion quotidienne des opérations du RSEQ et de la supervision quotidienne des finances, des programmes administratifs, des relations locales, régionales et provinciales, de l’organisation d’événements, de la gestion du personnel et de la direction du secteur scolaire au niveau provincial ainsi que de l’encadrement des bureaux régionaux.

Montréal, le lundi 30 septembre 2024–Le Conseil d’administration du RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) est heureux d’annoncer des changements au sein de sa direction générale.
D’abord, monsieur Gustave Roel, président-directeur général, occupera désormais le poste de chef de la direction. L’expérience vécue au cours de ces dernières années lui a permis de mettre en œuvre ses compétences professionnelles, notamment de leadership, de rôle-conseil, de relations politiques et de gestion de ressources importantes pour un réseau couvrant l’ensemble de la province du Québec, et ce, afin d’assurer la réussite éducative de plus de 238 000 étudiant·e·s-athlètes.
Le RSEQ c’est 14 instances régionales, 64 cégeps, 13 universités, plus de 3 000 établissements d’enseignement du primaire à l’université. Un réseau couvrant l’ensemble du territoire du Québec, dont 40 employés provinciaux, avec un budget d’exploitation de plus de 15 000 000$. Gestionnaire principal d’un écosystème complexe, ces principales préoccupations étant d’assurer la concertation des milieux, les représentations politiques dans plusieurs ministères, l’actualisation d’un plan stratégique, la participation dans différents conseils d’administration, la formation, le transfert d’expertise, l’accompagnement dans la gestion et la gouvernance des instances.
Également, Monsieur Stéphane Boudreau, directeur général adjoint depuis 8 ans, assurera désormais le poste de directeur général. Grâce à sa vaste expérience en gestion, en planification stratégique, en gestion financière, en commercialisation, en communication et en marketing, M. Boudreau demeure un important atout au sein de la direction du réseau. Il partage l’importante responsabilité de la gestion de l’ensemble des services du réseau et des relations avec les différents intervenant·es sur les plans local, régional et provincial.
Ces nominations s’inscrivent dans la modification de la structure de l’équipe direction générale qui accueillera incessamment une troisième personne à titre de directeur·rice général·e adjoint·e. Un affichage sera diffusé dans les prochains jours afin de combler ce poste actuellement vacant. À l’approche de l’unification des instances régionales, cette personne sera chargée d’assister le chef de la direction et le directeur général dans le leadership stratégique du RSEQ et l’administration de tous ses services et programmes.
Les membres du Conseil d’administration sont très enthousiastes de ces nominations et sont convaincus que les solides antécédents de M. Roel et M. Boudreau continueront de développer et de faire rayonner le réseau.

New Nominations to the RSEQ’s Executive Committee
Montréal, Monday, September 30, 2024 -The Board of Directors of the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) is pleased to announce changes within its general management.
First, Mr. Gustave Roel, President and General Manager, will now take on the role of Chief Executive Officer. Over the past several years, he has gained valuable experience and developed professional skills in leadership, advisory roles, government relations, and managing significant resources across a network that spans the province of Quebec. This work has been crucial in supporting the educational success of more than 238,000 student-athletes.
The RSEQ comprises 14 regional bodies, 64 cégeps, 13 universities, and more than 3,000 educational institutions, from elementary schools to universities. Operating throughout Quebec, the network employs 40 provincial staff members and has an operating budget exceeding $15 million.
As the senior manager of this complex ecosystem, his primary responsibilities will include fostering collaboration among various sectors, representing the organization in multiple government ministries, updating the strategic plan, participating in different board of director meetings, providing training, transferring expertise, and supporting the management and governance of the organization’s regional bodies.
In addition, Mr. Stéphane Boudreau, who has served as Deputy Director for the past eight years, will now assume the position of Executive Director. With his extensive expertise in management, strategic planning, finance, and marketing and communications, Mr. Boudreau brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization’s leadership team, instilling confidence in his ability to lead effectively. Together, they will share the crucial responsibility of managing all network services and maintaining relationships with various local, regional, and provincial stakeholders.
These nominations are part of the executive team’s restructuring process. The team will soon welcome a third person to be named as Deputy Executive Director. A job post for this currently vacant position will be made public in the coming days. With the upcoming unification of the regional bodies, this person will support the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Director in the strategic leadership of the RSEQ as well as the management of all its services and programs.
The members of the Board of Directors are thrilled about these appointments and are confident that the strong track records of Mr. Roel and Mr. Boudreau will continue to enhance and promote the network.

Hannah is a force on the court. Playing a wide receiver requires focus, confidence, excellent hands and a strong arm. She dominates her team at the bat average level, who started 2-0 in the league. Her teammates rely on her leadership and positive attitude to motivate them and she is always there for them.
Nate is a role model for his teammates on the football field. He’s a strong team player, leading the team in solo tackles and his field awareness has led to multiple interceptions. The Spartans started the season at 3-0 and Nate played an important role in their success.
