Athlete of the Month – April 2025

Congratulations to our April Athletes of the Month Leonor Lé Sequeira Pinteus and Yaseen Goyette

On the pitch, she not only excels with her technical ability, her precision and her remarkable sense of the game. Leonor is a real force to be reckoned with, capable of turning a match on its head with her strategic vision, intensity and unfailing commitment to every point. But beyond her athletic talent, it’s her natural leadership that makes all the difference. Whether encouraging her team-mates, holding the team together in difficult moments or setting an example through her work ethic, she inspires with her presence and consistency. She celebrates victory with grace and embraces defeat with dignity, always looking to learn and improve.

Yaseen has been a standout leader on and off the court. As a key player on the varsity volleyball team, he leads by example with his incredible defensive and offensive skills. His energy, determination, and sportsmanship have made a huge impact. In addition to his success in volleyball, Yaseen is also a valuable member of the varsity basketball and soccer teams, showcasing his versatility and dedication to Leo Hayes Athletics. Beyond sports, Yaseen is an excellent student who consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and positive attitude in the classroom.

Meet Heidi Bedwell, a captain who leads by example for the Barons Rugby Team. Not only is she a leading scorer, but her selflessness is remarkable – often passing to teammates to share the scoring opportunities. Even when awarded Player of the Game, Heidi humbly shares the recognition. Her compassion and sportsmanship haven’t gone unnoticed, earning her a sportsmanship award from Sturgeon Composite.
